Jenny Liang
Lab Manager & Research Assistant
Jenny Liang is the Lab Manager for the Shen Neurolaw Lab. She is a recent Politics, History, and Economics (PHE) graduate from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul. Jenny is an undergraduate researcher, with published works on international political topics with Harvard’s Synthesis journal and Georgia Southern’s Armstrong Undergraduate Journal of History. Her main area of research and presentation focus is on Chinese Sinicization and the ongoing development of the Underground Protestant Church. Currently, Jenny Liang assists Dr. Qiang Fang, professor of history at University of Minnesota Duluth, in his research endeavors on Modern Chinese politics. Jenny also enjoys creative writing, and has published a religious dystopian novel, The Curtain Between Us, with the Potter’s Wheel Publishing House.
In addition to her academic roles, Jenny is active in the state political and community scene. She has interned at the Minnesota Senate, and is the appointed secretary of Minnesota’s 4th Congressional District GOP. She has canvassed for five state and local campaigns, and is eager to continue grassroots outreach for the 2026 Midterms. As a reporter for China Insight, the only English-language news organization in Minnesota focused on Sino-American relations, Liang seeks to spotlight underrepresented voices, opinions, and initiatives. In her freetime, Jenny Liang performs, composes, and competes on the traditional Chinese snakeskin erhu. You will likely run into her showcases – especially around Chinese holidays!
